Greetings to everyone my name is Glynda Cochran. I am currently employed by Lamar University in the Department of Nursing. I teach in the Learning Center as a Clinical Instructor. I provide the nursing student with the core knowledge necessary to provide care to the client in the hospital or community setting.

The name of my online learning community is "NURSING AS AN ART & A SCIENCE". The purpose of this site is to investigate the use of technology and its impact on the student in the nursing program. We will explore ways and means to expand the use of technology in the nursing program at the Lamar University JoAnn Gay Dishman Department of Nursing.

Another area to explore will be funding for the use of technology in the nursing program. The technology is present but we need to be able to realistically afford this option.

The great state of Texas has a long range plan for implementation of technology in the school system. It decrees what educators, leaders, and infra-structure must have accomplished by the year 2010. With the advent of increased technology that spans the world and will only continue to expand. This will force the world of education to prepare the student to develop advanced skill requiring rapid learning, the ability to process massive amounts of information, the ability to make decisions and communicate in a global manner.

The first question to be addressed is:
As an educator how would you incorporate technology in a psychomotor skills classs to prepare the student to function as a first level nurse assistant?

Feel free to share your opinio and pose other questions that you may have. Thanks for your partcipation.
